Like many others, I first opened this book on a recommendation. It was the second wave of Fry - 2004-2005 -, the release of a new series. From the very beginning, I was struck by the relationship between the characters - close to utopian, but following the laws of the genre. First of all, the author catches the reader with sincerity - the characters are not shy about their emotions, they communicate with each other with great irony, sometimes with harsh sarcasm, but this adds a piquancy that clumsy modern literature lacks. Fry's books are the batteries that recharge people who are looking for magic. A strong community has formed around the book series: fans and admirers recognize each other by the bright book covers and by a special gesture, because “two good people can always agree”!
Attention: this is detective fiction! There is an idea of good and evil and great responsibility, but they are constantly mixed up, misleading the GG and the reader. There are dreams, dreams, love stories, chases and philosophical discussions with criminals, but the whole book is a great dialogue with the reader, which makes you believe in yourself, feel yourself and love yourself for who you are. The hero grows older and wiser with books and, to my regret, the book has its own logical ending, which I, at the age of 15, at the first reading, could not read (I really did not want THIS to end). The topic of death and the end of everything is often discussed in books, so special thanks to the author for helping me cope with this fear as well.
Now I'm re-reading Max's adventures in my darkest days, when you need to recharge your energy, emotions, gain strength and realize that you need to rely on yourself, because your life is one and you decide what it will be, sir Executor.
PS: The humor is sparkling. Seriously burns the soul and remains in the memory of phrases.

I would advise the authors to read the Strugatskys more closely, without missing descriptions of the weather and the world around them, and apparently then something will develop in these glorious heads of a boy and a girl. Much has been written. People worked. Our work is respected and in demand. The literature is different.

I don’t know who put this book in a high place in the ranking. And I have the impression that only women read it. The terrible thing is that a woman wrote it on behalf of a man. All dialogues are built in a feminine way. men talk to each other like fagots. and constantly eat cakes and cookies. did the author sit on a diet all the time? and never heard how men communicate? and some kind of terrible humor (with a blue tint). In general, I barely mastered one and a half books only because there was nothing more to read. but after "the son of twilight and light" even this is impossible to read.

The book dragged on. I was surprised by Schrigen's review that I don't want to quote the book. Yes, it is simply filled with phrases and expressions that can be used as a life motto. I dearly love the 1996 Max books. He was good, self-sufficient and original. With developed intuition and personal humor. I must say that I don't understand why the books were rewritten. And alas, this edition really has no zest. sad... and disgusting...

Youth book. Nostalgia. Maybe then someone wrote wiser and more modern. But then, when these books had just appeared, reading them was incomparable pleasure. Fabulous, charming and delicious. Now re-reading you notice a lot of things, but it is still difficult to resist the charm of your fleeting youth. The labyrinth is akin to New Year's Eve twilight, fanned with anticipation of mystery and expectation of the most wonderful miracles :)

Solid positive reviews .. Yeah, I also have nothing against it, the theme of other worlds, mysterious dreams (that's why I started reading) is certainly interesting, specific humor. Maybe I'll read more. BUT! I don't like the author's writing style at all! No raisins! Sometimes it even becomes funny from some words and phrases .. But there is no wisdom in expressions, you can’t write out some quotes. Empty style. Just a list of facts and events .. Excuse me, but younger authors write better. I have spoken.

I have not read this book, but I am familiar with another book, "The Dark Side", from which I fell in love with the story and the author. I read a lot of different books, but the story itself and the author left an indelible impression. There is nothing to compare it to, it is something special. Excellent book! Magic series!
I started reading on the advice of a director I knew - a man with impeccable taste.
It would seem, how can a banal fairy tale buy a person who has read hundreds of various books?
But it turned out that everything is not so simple ...)
The series "Echo Chronicles" (from which I mistakenly began my acquaintance with Fry's work and, directly, with Echo) won my heart from the first pages - and then I could not tear myself away)) I read all the Chronicles and switched to Labyrinths.
Sea of pleasure! It is easy to read, pleasant, very good dialogues, accompanied by sparkling and, in some places, very subtle humor, which will undoubtedly be appreciated by a reader who has good taste and a sense of humor.
I advise. In the column "MUST READ!".
A separate bow and gratitude to the authors who can give such bright and pleasant emotions!!!

These are the kind of books that you can’t tear yourself away from once you get acquainted with the wonderful world that the author draws on the pages of novels. Everything is here, magical and real, funny and sad. A lot of emotions, bright and joyful, a lot of characters, each with its own special character.
Max has always been a guy with a rich imagination, he had amazingly realistic dreams. This is what happens when you wake up and it seems to you that you have made a real journey, everything that happened there is so palpable. Max was lucky - he was able to get into the world of his fantasies through a dream. And in this wonderful world of Echo everything is possible. Here you can move between worlds, communicate with ghosts, see miracles. It's all very magical, but at the same time too real.
